1) In case anyone is curious about the high starting levels, my reason is simple. Can you imagine epic wars being fought with level 5 Squirtles or Caterpies? I didn't think so. However, if you want to, for any reason, have your Pokemon at a level lower than the starting levels, you're more than welcome to.
2) Don't let me catch you with Pokemon you shouldn't have. Look here for more details.
3) When battling, each Pokemon you use is only allowed to avoid an attack four times per battle. See here fore more details. Using Dig or Teleport to get out of the way and using moves like Protect to prevent damage counts as countering. So yeah...choose wisely
4) Be creative in battle. This isn't like the games, where they stand in one place, trading blows back and forth...that'd be boring. Of course, at the same time, keep it reasonable. I better not see anything that is unreasonable.
5) Please stick to the BW movesets, and no teaching a Pokemon something it can't learn. Naturally, TMs and HMs will be available. But in some cases Staff Members may pass out pokemon with an abnormal move set. These will be rewards and the like as part of missions and events. Even just for good performance from members.
6) I'm doing things a little different with moves. Each Pokemon can learn up to six moves in total. Four of them will be 'Offensive Moves', which consist of moves that directly damage the opponent. This is includes moves like Stealth Rock or Sandstorm. The other two moves will be known as 'Support Moves'. This is basically anything that doesn't deal damage. If you have any questions as to what counts as which, PM one of the staff members. Also, you are more than welcome to give your Pokemon more than two Support moves in exchange for one of your Offensive moves, but not vice versa.
7) One more about moves. Your Pokemon don't have to have Surf to swim, or Fly to...well, fly. That always seemed odd to me. So yeah. Also, there are moves like Night Shade and Seismic Toss that deal damage based on the user's level, or moves like Sonic Boom and Dragon Rage that deal set amounts of damage. Seeing as how this site doesn't incorporate HP, those moves don't work. So, instead, whatever the damage is set to will be the attacks' Base Power instead, and weakness/resistances will apply to them as well.
8) Instead of PCs, characters each have their own vault for storing extra Pokemon. As always, the Party limit is six. However, do keep in mind that, if your traveling Party is full, you will NOT be able to capture any more Pokemon until you put at least one into your Vault.
9) To ensure fairness, I, or another admin/mod, will play the role of a wild Pokemon. Depending on how you approach it, it may join you willingly, but keep in mind that the same approach may not work more than once. Usually, however, you will have to battle and weaken it. Poke Balls don't work on an unconscious/dead Pokemon, so try to avoid going overboard
10) When posting in a battle, you may only use two moves per turn. One offensive and one defensive. BUT moves can also be combined to make it into a more awesome move. I do not want to see combinations often and when they are used it will be under speculation by any staff member to ask you to get rid of it.
11) Don't ask for something out of the ordinary, like a wild Shiny Pokemon, or that Pokemon is holding a certain item. You're more than welcome to suggest what type or species of Pokemon you want to capture when starting the thread, however. Whether you actually get it will depend on whoever mods it, though. Most shiny pokemon will only be passed out on fun occasions.
Levelling Up After a battle, your Pokemon will level up accordingly, depending on the result; - If it won, it gains 1 level. - If it lost, it gains nothing. - If it ends in a tie, both gain 1 level. - If it wins, and the opponent is at least 5 levels higher, it gains 2 levels. - If it wins, and the opponent is at least 7 levels higher, it gains 3 levels. - If it wins, and the opponent is at least 10 levels higher, it gains 5 levels - If a Pokemon battled against another Pokemon, but doesn't defeat it (i.e. you capture the opponent or switch out), it gains nothing.
Additionally, you can, once a week, post a "Training Thread". All you have to do is post a detailed thread involving some sort of training, and your entire team may gain a level. It doesn't matter when you post it, just keep in mind that you'll have to wait until Sunday before you can post another one. For the sake of avoiding potential confusion due to different Time Zones, please note what the time currently is when you post it.
