Calin was back from his first mission, and getting ready for new orders. He had heard that Omniforge had another guest in it, one that Calin actually knew. His name was Adler from Permafrost. Him and Calin didn't really have a history, but while the the leaders sat around arguing in their private meeting chambers the two had exchanged a few words and had gotten along quite well. Adler wasn't a soldier, or a diplomat. On paper he was, but really he was a guy with a heart of gold, and one in a million. This is what pulled Calin to him. Many people could fake this, but Calin was a great judge of character, being raised by pokemon does that to you. Adler really cared for pokemon probably as much as Calin did. Though neither had voiced how strong these emotions were, they both could just tell.
So here he was. Calin was looking all around the third tier knowing Adler would be somewhere around here. Calin had gotten all the way to the guards tower and not had any clues to Adler's whereabouts. Calin decided to rest against the wall in the mighty square which could fill up in an instant if an alarm rang out. He could have sent his pokemon out, but the guards tend to not like having unscheduled pokemon flying about so close to the palace, or over the nobles and diplomats housing, it could lead to a war. So it would seem he would just have to accept the fact he was going to miss his well conversed pal this time around.

Adler tossed up his pokeball. A newly caught pokemon one difficult to find. Larvesta. Adler was ecstatic, and on top of the new friend, he was visiting Omniforge. Where more friends reside. Specifically, a charming man he met on his last visit by the name of Calin. They randomly struck conversation and it was a friendship you find one in a million. Hopefully Adler would catch him before he either went home, or went about his business.
Minutes later he reached the third tier. And just in sight was Calin. As if he expected Adler right on cue. A brisk walk and a slight skip jump later and they were face to face again. Adler thought about a handshake, but figured he was a good enough friend for a hug. So without hesitation hid arms were wide and ready to catch up..

Calin ran a hand through his white hair. He heard someone approaching, chances are they wouldn't bother him. Not too many people had a reason to talk to a Guardian. Either they were to low for his notice, or they were of to high a status to be talking with them. next thing he knew he heard clanking thump. He opened his eyes to see Adler staring him in the face with his arms wide open.
Calin nodded to Adler, still keeping a relaxed passive face. He went up to the guy , and gave him a bro hug, which he in turn received.
"What have you been up too. I looked through the whole tier." Calin said. He began leading Adler to a hard wood bench guards coming off duty tended to rest on. It was on the wall, so the duo could see the whole area expand in front of them. It wasn't as great as the palace courtyards, but a decent enough size for a pokemon battle.
This thought gave him an idea. He let Adler finish what he was saying about his adventures he had been having before bringing the idea up to his friend. " You know, what better way of reconnecting then a battle?"
Calin held up his five pokeballs. His mouth remained a flat neutral line, but his eyes were egging Adler one, daring him to accept the challenge.

Adler was taken aback. Just arriving and already a friendly pokemon challenge. He noticed a certain air of bait and line, but Calin was a buddy, and well he had been itching for a battle. Adler reached on his belt for 3 pokemon. He chose carefully and finally came to a decision. After a few moments, Adler spoke, "Ok I accept," he said grinning. "I just have a request, since I am only carrying 4 pokemon, how about we make it a 3 on 3 singles match. That way we still can train the core of our team yeah?"
Briefly Adler rethought his team, but only briefly. It was clear who he was choosing. In a very aesthetic fashion Adler raised the ball overhead and then swung his arm around and released the ball. It whirred around until it reached its peak, and opened to release its contents. A pure red beam spiked to the ground and there sat his newly captured pokemon. Larvesta. "Your move Calin. Test my new companion to his limits." Adler was confident in his new buddy. Adler is banking on the type advantage, but has yet to see any of Calin's pokemon yet...

Adler waited a few minutes before responding. He accepted, Calin had a feeling he would. Friendly competitions were hard to say no to. He mentioned his lack of pokemon and asked for a 3v3 singles match. Calin mentally picked his pokemon. When Adler mentioned core of his team Calin had to agree, he did pick his core three. He did feel bad for the two he wasn't picking, he would have to get another battle to use them in.
"You got it." Was Calin's only response.
With that the battle begun Adler released his first pokemon. A Larvesta. Fire type, strange out of all the types Calin least expected that from Adler, seeing he was from Permafrost. Adler then passed the ball into Calin's court.
"Well out of all the types you would be using I was prepared for the opposite." Calin smirked a little. "Which in this case worked in my favor."
Calin threw his ball on the ground. It bounced up and at the peak of it's flight path, right before it started coming down, out popped his pokemon. A giant blue serpent came out dwarfing the small insect.
"Adler meet Gratua, my gyarados." Calin said evenly. He knew he had total type advantage but that was no reason to gloat. He'd seen pokemon beat types they should have lost against. "Since you chose first, you may go first." Calin said, doing the polite thing and letting him start the battle.

Adler had been itching to battle for a while. He even had the first move, but the Gyrados' intimidate didn't just work on pokemon. "It's ok Larvesta! Gyrados are better suited for their base type, water. So even though they have double type advantage, we are used to ground battles! Lets Get things started with a String shot lower his speed!"
Larvesta obeyed instantly and shot a steady stream of silk at his target. "Alright follow up with a nice flamethrower! Make it HOT HOT HOT!" And again Larvesta did just that but it wasn't being static. As it shot the flamethrower attack, it jumped to its right creating a literal "Line-of-fire" ...

Calin had a cold stare as Adler pepped up his pokemon into action. It used a sting shot, and slowed down Gratua, which wasn't a big deal for Calin. Outside of the water Gyarados was a big target without super speed, which means Calin had trained with Gratua to take hits. Gratua's strategy on land was to just nail his opponent with one great strong hit. So Gratua took the stringshot. Adler followed up with a flame based attack, encouraging his Larvesta, which soared a line of fire.
Calin kept his cold glare, "Push through that Gratua." With a roar Gratua charged straight into the fire getting to the other side of the fire pokemon. "Calin calmly, at normal volume said, "Rain dance."
Gratua's body twisted and curved through the fire. Thunder clapped as the sky darkened starting a great and fierce storm to brew within seconds. Gratua now with a clear view of the opponent Calin again calmly, though a little louder to call over the storm, "Hydro pump."
A giant geyser of water flooded from Gratua's mouth. The water powered from the storm dwarfed the poor bug pokemon it was aimed at.

The sheer size of the gallons upon gallons of water that hurtled towards Adler's Larvesta were mind boggling. He had to think fast or it would surely be ended by a well trained Gyrados. "Larvesta! Use the energy from flamecharge to help you evade!"
In a split second the bug pokemon was encased in flames. And immediately after bolted to the side narrowly missing the torrent of water. "Larvesta return!"The beam retrieved the fire bug type and Adler was making a substitution. "I'm sorry buddy, I just don't think you're ready for that kind of power just yet." Adler immediately knew who he was sending out. Something that could match gyarados' own power.
"C'mon out! Nidoking!" The poison pokemon erupted from its ball eager to battle. When it landed, it hit the ground with a loud 'thud.' Posion even dripping from its facial horn. "I know you're ready buddy but its not my turn, Your move Calin"

Calin broke out of his coldness, as Larvesta was pulled from the battle. Calin broke into an unusual friendly smile. "Sorry my friend."
With that Adler brought out his Nidoking. It landed with a thud and a splash as the storm grew even larger. Gratua roared in anticipation for a much more fitting opponent. Calin's battle face sunk back in with the arrival of a new opponent, yet he still had a small smirk. Adler still gave Calin the type advantage, he must have one hell of a Nidoking if he expected it to be able to beat his Gyarados.
"Pin it with a leer, hydro pump." Calin called out the orders, to which Gratua responded with another shrieking roar. The strategy was, use leer to hopefully scare the pokemon into a few moments hesitation, and finish it off with a deadly attack from Gratua's arsenal, however Calin wasn't sure if Nidoking would be shaken, even from a leer from Gratua.
The orders were given and followed. Gratua's eyes shot red, and he opened his maw to almost impossible lengths howling into the face of the Nidoking, making such a menacing face, that it would make lesser men scramble from battle. Gratua reared his head back, and shot forth another great torrent of water which would consume even the great hulk of the Nidoking.

Adler smirked as the same motion as before was played out. Just as expected. He let a few very brief moments pass before Adler shouts his command.."Nidoking..SURF!"
The storm the rain dance kicked up was like a typhoon. giving plenty to work with. Nidoking raised its purple arms overtop its head. Creating a huge wave, a literal wall of water so massive from the raindance it must have went upwards of 3 stories, and Nidoking riding the crest like it was no big deal. He let out a massive roar and the wall came crashing down towards gyrados...

A very good counter. Just as Calin thought Adler had fully anticipated him exploiting Nidoking's weakness to water, and he had a very well thought out plan....Up until this point. Calin just stared through the massive tidal wave coming for him.
"Gratua, push through it." Gratua responded with a growl, wiggly its way in front of Calin. The giant wall of water hit and Gratua was pushed back quite a few yards from its original position, and stopped right before it pushed Calin over. Calin who was already soaked from the rain didn't make a fuss over the water crashing over his Gyarados pouring down on him. The wave passed, and it was Gratua's turn. Calin looked at the great serpent, making sure he could continue. true all he had done was take to hits that weren't not very effective, but he just had to be sure. After the glance Calin returned to his cold stare.
"Into the air, leer." The strange words came from Calin, but if Gratua thought they were weird he didn't let it show, if anything he looked like this was something well rehearsed. Gratua coiled it's body and shot skyward, getting just above the buildings and walls surrounding them. It peaked in its jump and began coming back down. On the way down it's eyes glowed red and again it's maw opened to unnatural lengths, as Gratua attempted to stare down the Nidoking yet again.
About twenty feet from the ground Calin quickly yelled out, "Earthquake!" With a simple flip and timing as if Gratua was waiting for the command, he flipped his tail around, and slammed it into the ground. A large amount of shaking soon followed as the earth began to shiver with a mighty earthquake.

Adler was watching in awe almost as the Gyrados danced around in the air majestically. He was so enticed in fact he forgot to give direction to Nidoking about the leer that was lowering his attack power. Once Adler realized this he quickly developed some sort of plan to weaken his rival.
"Earth Power won't effect it..so that limits my options..I think I have it!" Adler thought. And without missing a beat he yelled to his Nidoking "Take the brunt of the earthquake Nidoking!"
The Gyrados slammed into the ground, causing fissures and cracks to spider-web out. It had to be atleast a 7 on the ricther scale. Buildings swayed to and fro. But alas Nidoking embraced it. Regardless it still hurt but Nidoking handled it fairly well.
"Alright buddy you're up again. Use a focus energy to gain some of that lost attack power," Adler directed, and Nidoking dug in its feet and roared magnificently.
"Now for act 2! Speed in there and hit him with a poison jab buddy!" Nidoking nodded and his horn glowed purple and oozed even more poison. So toxic and acidic it burned the ground it dripped on. And only a second later Nidoking barreled towards the grounded gyrados, full speed..
