- Only differences is that Solon is older and with more lean muscle than in the picture above. -
Personality: Solon is typically rather quiet, preferring to observe rather than jump into the fray for no reason. But if he decides to get involved, he's the type to see things through to the end. Solon is kind hearted at his core, but the horrors of war have hardened him so that it's harder to motivate his kindness. He's generally polite and friendly to everyone he meets unless they give him a reason to act otherwise. He particularly detests slavery and wanton cruelty. As a spy, Solon is incredibly observant and highly intelligent, possessing a strength of will that makes him nearly impossible to break and steal his secrets. He is intensely loyal to his Pokémon, to the point that he'd give up his life before abandoning even one of them.
History: To understand Solon, you need to understand the history of the world and the role his father, Cresus Tofusin, played in it. Cresus was the youngest prince of House Tofusin, Sovereign family of the Kingdom of Trayethell, one of the Kingdoms that would eventually become Karaja Hakura. Being the youngest prince, Cresus had no chance at the throne and never deluded himself with the desire to take it from his family. Instead he took a commission in Trayethell's military, where he excelled in combat and soon demonstrated a natural genius for strategy. By the time his oldest brother became king, Cresus had risen to be the head of Trayethell's military and taken the position of Minister of War. Other countries issued flee-on-site orders for Cresus, who was devastating with his white katana and short bow (which Solon now uses). His trademark skill was being able to fight in battle with all six of his Pokémon at once, orchestrating them into a team that fought with perfect synchronicity.
As the northernmost kingdom of the region, Trayethell was the first to fall to Kamegekido Shiann's assault. Trayethell had its military arrayed for defense against the other four kingdoms in the area, and was in no way prepared for Shiann's sneak attack. Taken completely by surprise, without even a whisper of the impending attack, as well as with the skill and overwhelming power of the invaders, Trayethell was overwhelmed and destroyed before it could ever mount a defense. It was a massacre. Cresus walked in as Shiann slaughtered the rest of his family and tried to stop him, but Shiann and his elite guard fought him off, and it's a mark of Cresus's skill that he managed to escape the burning capitol with his life and Pokémon.
Cresus fled from the advancing army, having to leave what became the nation of Karaja Hakura entirely before long. Disgusted by the cruel efficiency of the Omniforge Empire and seeing no appeal in Permafrost's environment or restrictions, Cresus made his way to Valena. He struck a deal with Valena's King Kardova, exchanging information about the geography and resources of the isolated Karaja Hakura for sanctuary in Valena. Though he was given sanctuary, Cresus had no intention of using his skills to strengthen Valena's military given its current inclinations... but to make use of his skills he instead opted to join the City Guard. Eventually during his work he met Sonia, a minor noble whose grandfather had bankrupted the family trying to curry social favor with the richest families in the kingdom. Sonia's father opened an apothecary and sometimes acted as a solicitor to some of the other noble families to help make a living, slowly rebuilding the family fortune. Cresus soon fell in love with Sonia and eventually married her.
Together Cresus and Sonia had two children: Sijuron and Solonariwan. Growing up, the brothers both trained in the military arts and learned to become skilled Pokémon trainers, learning under their father and developing a healthy, good-natured rivalry. Sijuron started his own import/export business that was very profitable, but was ambushed during a trip with a merchant caravan about ten years ago. He was captured by slavers, soon after being sold to the Omniforge Empire. Solon often spent time in his youth assisting his mother in the apothecary, where he developed an interest in alchemy... eventually learning what he needed to know from it so he could use his family's herbs to brew the various potions used by Pokémon trainers and breeders, both for his own use and to help expand the family business.
Eventually, the people decided to overthrow the Kardovan Monarchy and remake Valena into a republic, which Cresus and his family openly supported. Unfortunately, just as Cresus started to work for Imperator Arwen Hara, a spy and assassin from Karaja Hakura recognized him while he was out on a mission. This spy poisoned Cresus for the dying Emperor Kamegekido Shiann, removing what they believed to be the only surviving royal of the five fallen kingdoms, not knowing about Sijuron or Solon.
Upon learning of his father's death, Solon sought an audience with Imperator Arwen Hara, offering to become his spy. With his mixed parentage, it is impossible to identify Solon's country of origin; and with his military and Pokémon trainer skills (unique to Trayethell and also impossible to trace), Solon was immediately granted this position. Solon wanders the continent, enacting the will of the Imperator and reporting all information he manages to gather by carrier Pidgey.
Solon has an intense hatred of slavery because of his brother's fate, and for the Omniforge Empire especially for sponsoring it and relying on it so heavily. Though he's managed to learn that Sijuron was sold to Omniforge, Solon has never been able to find him and looks for Sijuron whenever he travels through Omniforge. He also held a burning hatred for Karaja Hakura and its Emperor, often supporting the rebel factions whenever he could sneak in to see them. However, he's decided to wait and see how the new Empress approaches things before deciding how to approach them in the future. Solon doesn't particularly like Permafrost, but neither does he have any issues with it, either. He has a special method of hiding his fire Pokémon when he has to go to Permafrost that hasn't yet been discovered, but he doesn't like to take the chance and avoids going there whenever possible. His method prevents from using his hidden Pokémon, and he's been accused of taking a massive risk for effectively the same result, but Solon's loyalty to his Pokémon won't permit him to leave his Pokémon in dubious hands. Their alliance with Omniforge, which Solon learned through his contacts, and their implicit condoning of their behavior keeps him suspicious of Permafrost.
Country of Residence: Has a home and apothecary with a small alchemy lab in Velena, maintained by his mother and a small staff. However, Solon spends most of his time wandering.
Allegiance: Valena
Rank: Valena spy. He's also a Prince of the fallen kingdom of Trayethell; and minor noble of Valena, which isn't acknowledged openly by the fledgling Republic as long as he's their spy.
Additional Information: Solon was trained in the military arts by his father, and is exceptionally deadly to both humans and Pokémon alike. He wears a white katana called the White Tiger at his hip (which is partially hidden by his white cloak), a dagger against the small of his back, and a small knife in his boot. He also keeps a bow and a quiver full of arrows slung across his back.
Around his second belt are an array of potions, remedies, elixirs and the like of his own making. Also has his own Pokeflute on the same belt he keeps his Pokéballs. Solon also wears a gold chain around his neck with a small ruby on the end; when the ruby is held up to the light you can see the Seal of Trayethell inside of it. It is a memento of his father.
