Personality: In D&D alignment terms, Josh is neutral good with chaotic tendencies. He's a bit antisocial, but can form long-lasting friendships with the right group of people. He can lead both large and small groups, but is far more effective with smaller ones. When higher-ups do something that doesn't make sense to him, he will often go on his own way to find a better method of accomplishing the same task. Nonetheless, his heart seems to always be in the right place. Even when he makes mistakes, his intent is pure, and he is a good person overall.

History: Studying Pokemon since childhood, it was the one thing Josh's folks disliked about him, because the majority of applications of Pokemon were military. He saw joining the military as an opportunity to further his studies, and at age 18 made the decision to move away from his folks and be taken under the wings of the Ardhana government. Due to the small size of the military, Josh was treated with a fair amount of individuality. When he wasn't in battle, he was learning more about rare varieties of Pokemon he hadn't even heard of just a year in the past, and even raising ones of his own--one he had befriended at a young age and two more given to him when he enlisted in the service.

One day, during his fourth year of service, a gorgeous depiction of a particularly rare Pokemon completely blew his mind. It was Raikou, the Beast of Lightning. Everything about it blew him away: the ability to create storms as well as siphon from natural ones, the ferocity it displayed even with melee attacks, and the Beast's striking, almost frightening appearance. What awed him the most, however, was the creature's amazing speed, said to be unparalleled among all ground-bound living creatures. That was the day he resolved that he wanted to see this savage creature at least once. To him, any amount of suffering would be worth even a moment of being able to harness Raikou's speed for himself.

The young knight's research into Raikou, as well as his growing combat skills, gained him favor with the royalty of Ardhana. He leveraged that into the ability to spend more resources on training his Pokemon in addition to exposing them to more intense training. His position of power let him journey farther than as a civilian, allowing him to find some rarer Pokemon. His combat experience, as well as his favor with royalty, led him to a position as captain of the Ardhana cavalry.
