Nathaniel Sunn
Age: 14
Gender: Male
Appearance:
Personality: Nathaniel is timid, shy and yet prone to moments of extreme anger. His social skills are limited, to say the least, by his upbringing and as such he tends to avoid any sort of casual confrontataion. To most people he comes off as cold and distant, however when it comes to pokemon, be they his own, wild or another trainers, he emenates a sense of calm and understanding. Honestly he prefers the company of pokemon to people because without his own pokemon he wouldn't even be alive.
Nathaniel has a hobby in the study of pokemon and is always carrying with him a notebook on his travels. He hopes, one day, that he may qualify to become a pokemon researcher and spend his days roaming the wild's in search of new species. Until then however he plays the catious runaway, always on the watch for anyone that might give word to his parents about his whereabouts.
History: Nathaniel was born into an upperclass Terundian family as the youngest, unwanted child. He was in his father's words, "an accident" and as such lived his life in the shadow of his two elder brothers who were both in high ranking military positions before Nathaniel himself had even obtained his first pokemon.
Wheras his brother's opted for powerful, evolved pokemon "worthy of a knight" as their starters Nathaniel opted for a pokemon he had found near fainting in a puddle on the street after a series of torrential storms. The Surskit he'd brought back into the house was looked at with hostility by his father and brothers and yet Nathaniel decided to nurse the pokemon back to health. When the time had finally come to return the Surskit to the wild Nathaniel found that it would not leave his side and that deep down he didn't really want it to, to the intense dislike of his father.
As his first pokemon wasn't deemed worthy of a knight Nathaniel was forced to drop out of the knighting course his father had pressured him into and as such he found himself working at home with his mother. This went on for a few months before Nathaniel was stricken ill by some unkown cause, bedrideen for weeks. His father dismissed the illness as an excuse for slacking off and his mother didn't even really seem to notice his absence.
The illness has stayed with him ever since and he is prone to moments of extreme tiredness that may arrive spontaneously. It was just after his recovery, when his mother sent him to the markets to pick up some food that Nathaniel found his next pokemon. A Wailmer was being put on show in a massive tank before it would soon be killed and sold as the delicacy it was. Nathaniel, not able to stand such a sight, spent his entire savings on the animal and a pokeball. Wailmer has been with him ever since.
As the years went on and his brother's further advanced themselves in the army Nathaniel remained at home, bedridden for weeks at a time. His parents didn't even seem to notice and sometimes even forgot to put a chair out for him at dinner. One specific dinner his father had brought home a Doduo Egg from the knight school. Nathaniel managed to steal it away and kep't it in his room, his father eventually convinced himself that it must have simply been misplaced.
The egg fasinated Nathaniel, and he took it with him wherever he went, always hiding it on his person or in his drawer at home until him and his father had an argument about Nathaniel's dropping about off school, his illness and everything else that had ever come between them. Nathaniel found himself slamming the door to his room to see a baby Doduo peering curiously at him. The cry of the newborn pokemon drew his father inside and at once he realised where the pokemon must have come from. He turned to Nathaniel... and slapped him across the face.
That night Nathaniel decided to take his leave, stealing out into the night with nothing but a satchel of belongings and the three pokeballs that housed his pokemon on a belt at his side. Once he was outside the main city he rode his newborn Doduo as far away as possible. Not once looking back at the city he could associate with nothing but war and sad memories.

lol Hope. Even sounds like Hope's story a bit. The only gripe I have is Nathaniel is a bit young for a war setting, but that's just me. I love your backstory--has depth to it. More depth than I was arsed to put into my character. Kudos.
Approved without a second thought.
